Ask an Elmer
Jim Campbell KB9RGU presented a station-grounding question for his friend who utilizes an indoor antenna and tuner on a second-floor installation: where to obtain earth-ground? Dennis HIK suggested each chassis needs to be a home-run (not daisy-chain) ground lead to a common bus bar that will access earth ground, typically a water supply pipe. Cliff K9QD suggested the equipment-ground available on a standard duplex outlet will also suffice and not jeopardize any lightning protection since the station is completely indoors.
