Barry K9FMB continues to pursue a proper PayPal identity for us. It’s possible we’ll suffer a one-month transaction increase until we’re able to create 501c3 status once the official SARC entity is established.
Our Dues Reminder eMail Boilerplate needs to access a corrected Membership look-up table; Roster has to be culled before we trigger a renewal email to the membership.
PayPal also requires a specific eMail account directly to the proper financial authority of SARC.
Public Service:
Rob Glowacki N9MVO reported our next event will likely be the MS WALK in the spring.
EMCOMM:
John Zietlow K9WIC reported a statewide Simulated Emergency Test [3905 Primary, 7240 Secondary] occurred September 9th and 10th but details were not available in time for us inform our membership.
Repeaters:
Rob Glowacki N9MVO will confer with John Zietlow K9WIC to make eventual contact with a professional antenna installation expert discovered by Roberto Beltramelli WA9E to evaluate our Barrington Road site. Goal is to determine what actions can be taken to alleviate our sporadic static on windy/wet days. Kent Ochs W9KAO informed Mike Sorensen K9KQX will join the Repeater Committee technical team.
Construction Project (CP):
Cliff Sowka K9QD announced CP meetings have resumed. Some consumables purchases have been secured at several hamfests. Connectors, Copper Grounding Plate, Mueller alligator clips for assembling real test leads, and even some RG8 for making jumpers are ready. Still looking for real Pb-solder, hand tools, freeze spray, and would like to obtain a small vice that we can clamp to a table. Belvidere Hamfest will be a good venue (this is the last Hamfest for the year) for continued search.
The previous cabinet-top mess as well as the surplus stuff against the North wall has now been completely cleared. Two surplus radios on the north storage wall have also been removed and will be sold at Belvidere.
CP Antenna: Dennis C. Calvey KD9HIK has been working with the Park District to continue our effort of installing a usable antenna with access in the basement. In the past, SARC had a VHF/UHF antenna mounted on the fascia of the Tennis Plus Club (TPC). Park District management indicated our installation may have an internal chase to the basement (won’t need outside cable-drop on the front of the building) and could be completed by the end of October. SARC is providing materials and Schaumburg Park District employees would affect the installation after rooftop HVAC upgrades are completed soon.

Education:
Leo Ribordy N9NBH reports our first class had 11 students attend. Leo’s proposal for a General Class offering during this winter was accepted. The Library will be informed of our desire to host a 12-week session starting January 12th. Several members tonight volunteered to be instructors and Leo will need to enlist a few more before we’re confident of sufficient staffing.

Don Dewar KD9NJR was authorized by the Board to liaise with the Boy Scouts for the upcoming Jamboree the October.
Nominating Committee candidate search should begin shortly. Suggested Officer Slate will be ready for our October Board meeting.
Roberto Beltramelli WA9E has been able to enlist the help of a local antenna expert to help us evaluate the 2M Machine’s sporadic static.
Recent Fusion Repeater Room assignment irritations have presented a need for a membership survey. Advisory to the Board of Directors regarding a Default Room of K9IIK or IL-Chicago was discussed. A role call vote of Virtual Attendees was recorded to be 3 No and 7 Present (no opinion). Similar vote of Attendees present tonight revealed similar results. Therefore a Policy Decision will be discussed during the October Board Meeting.
Question of the Night was “What is Full Quieting?” John Zietlow K9WIC shared graphical explanations to show signal strength/quieting relationships. Signal-to-Noise Ratio improvements suffer diminishing performance gains due to atmospheric noise as well as the radio’s internal noise contributions.
Additional survey regarding a Food/Beverage policy for club events will be included on our November Ballot. The question is whether or not our club’s finances should be spent for refreshments at club events.
Charlene Treve K9CMZ has scheduled her tower raising for Saturday October 1st at 8AM.
